1. Miconutrient Testing

There's overwhelming evidence that vitamin deficiencies are associated with the chronic disease processes and overall health. Vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant deficiencies have been shown to suppress the function of the immune system. This can contribute to degenerative processes such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
50% of people taking multivitamins are still nutritionally deficient.
That's because a multi will not identify and correct specific nutrient deficiencies. The only way to do that is by testing your levels.

Conditions that can improved with proper nutrition repletion (food and supplements):
  • Diabetes
  • Fatigue
  • Mood disorders, depression, anxiety
  • Weight management
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Women's health, infertility
  • Hypertention
  • Fibromylagia
  • Gastrointestinal health, constipation
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Inflammation
  • Sleep apnea

I use SpectraCell Laboratories Micronutrient testing. Click on the image to the right if you would like to see what nutrients are being tested and see a sample result.
Standard (blood) tests don't measure if
the nutrient is properly functioning within your body
SpectraCell Micronutrient measures the function of selected vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other essential micronutrients within your white blood cells. The results reveal your functional nutrient status (or how nutrients are being utilized) over a long period of time. Standard blood tests only capture the levels of nutrients in the blood at a certain time. Some nutrients, like calcium or magnesium, can't be measured through standard testing because your body has to keep their blood level in a tight range for your heart to function properly. Some nutrients, like folate or vitamin B12, have to be activated to be utilized, so a normal blood level may not indicate normal functioning level.

SpectraCell Micronutrient testing is a meaningful measurement of nutritional status. Contact me below to get information on testing.

2. Thyroid Hormone Testing

Many of my patients who have abnormal thyroid function symptoms (hypo/low or hyper/high) don't have comprehensive thyroid hormone panels tested.
Half of the people with thyroid problems are undiagnosed
and 90% of thyroid cases are auto-immune
The SpectraCell thyroid hormone testing includes:
  • Free T3 (Free Triiodothyronine)
  • Free T4 (Free Thyroxine)
  • Total T4 (Total Thyroxine)
  • rT3 - Reverse T3 (Reverse Triiodothyronine)
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Anti-TG (Antibodies to Thyroglobulin)
  • Anti-TPO (Antibodies to Thyroperoxidase)
  • Tg (Thyroglobulin)
  • TBG (Thyroid Binding Globulin)
SpectraCell Thyroid Hormone testing is a comprehensive thyroid function analysis. You can click on this link (http://bit.ly/1NaguAY) to read more on thyroid symptoms and understand what these lab markers mean.

3. Neurotransmitter and Adrenal Testing

Neurotransmitter and adrenal imbalances are implicated in several conditions including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, irritability, sleep difficulties, cognitive function, mental focus, fatigue, weight management, headaches, digestive complaints, ADD/ADHD, cravings, addictions, and others.

I utilize Pharmsan Labs for testing. There are several panels to select from based on your symptoms and medical history. If your health problem is persistent despite a healthy diet and lifestyle, your nervous system and/or endocrine system may be playing a role. Testing to assess markers of these system is the first step to address your health problem.
